Barry Hicks, Roger Savage, Lowell Hanson, Ted Nyquist, Bud Clarke, Bob Whaley, Harold Hoem, and Boyd Burtch bring stories and photos of smokejumping from its origin through firefighting adventures and the evolution of firefighting techniques.

ACM horses webThe next Bonner History Roundtable, "Logging: From Horses, Oxen, and Men to Steam, Gas, and Diesel" is February 21, 2-4 p.m. at St. Ann Catholic Church, 9015 MT-200, Bonner. Scott Kuehn, Society of American Foresters and chair of Missoula Forestry Days at the Historical Museum at Fort Missoula, discusses the development and transition of logging equipment. Sponsored by the Bonner Milltown History Center and Museum. Free and open to the public.

All programs are at 2 p.m. at St. Ann Catholic Church in Bonner.

January 24: Mike Boehme introduces businesses operating in the Bonner Mill. The co-owner of the Bonner Mill will introduce owners or managers of the diverse set of businesses now on the mill property. Businesses who may be represented include Coaster Pedicab, Kettlehouse, Northwest Paint, Alcom, Montainer, Willis Enterprises, Bonner Transfer and Storage, and Hellgate Forge. Andy Lukes will introduce the program.

February 21: Scott Kuehn explores the history of logging. Well known logging historian Scott Kuehn will offer a trip into the past as he discusses logging history. Kim Briggeman will introduce the program.

March 20: Smokejumpers recount their adventures. Local and area smokejumpers have played a large role in protecting our forests. Dennis Sain will introduce the program.

All programs will be recorded and available for viewing on our website.

Bonner graduates, teachers, family and friends gathered to share stories of the school that has anchored the community for 125 years. Kim Briggeman led a panel composed of former Bonner students who returned to teach at Bonner School: Kathy Briggeman Milodragovich, Judy Thibodeau Karl, and Don Felton. The program was recorded by MCAT. DVDs of the program are available at the History Center; contact Judy at 370-5929.
